Chapter Twenty-One

Under the headline, "Local Man Attacked on Cruise, Expect Full Recovery

A North Shore resident was inexplicably attacked yesterday on a river cruise vacation in Germany.

Morton Elison, the Chairman of the Board of businesses named after his family, was found crumbled to the floor of a corridor leading to his stateroom, according to local sources.

Elison sustained a head wound which rendered him unconscious and gave him a probable concussion. At last report, he was resting comfortably in the ship's sickbay.

The attack occurred at approximately 2 a.m. European time, and it is not known why Elison was in the corridor.

The ship's purser, speculating, told police that Elison may have been seeking a snack in the ship's kitchen. He was apparently returning to his stateroom on the upper deck. He had no food in his hands, which does not prove or disprove the purser's attempted explanation, because Elison may have already eaten the snack.

The Elison's are well known locally for their social and charitable activities. Elison is accompanied on the cruise by his wife, Dorothea, and his daughters, according to a spokesman for Rosoto Tours.

Such attacks, the spokesman said, are extremely rare, in fact, almost non-existent, and traveler safety is emphasized on all tours.
